A Closer Look at Friday's Projects.... And Rosie Gets In On The Act

Hello!

Well, today's the last day you can order products from the fabulous Spring Mini-Catalogue; tomorrow sees the launch of the first ever UK Summer Mini-Catalogue and I'm so excited about being able to show it to you! I've had some lovely emails about the two projects I showed you on Friday, so I thought I'd show you them again, but in more detail this time. Here's a close-up of the little place-card (no name on it - you really don't want to be looking at my handwriting!):

And here is is again, sideways on so you can see how it stands up.

I can see I'm going to be using this stamp set and the Framelits dies that co-ordinate with it, soooo often. I'm not allowed to show you the Framelits themselves until tomorrow, but they're very different from our other Big Shot dies. They're wafer-thin and you can see exactly where you're positioning them, so it's easy to stamp and colour the image first, then cut it out with the Big Shot, knowing that the image is going to be exactly where you want it. So clever!

Here's the treat pouch again.

The colouring is all done using a blender pen, picking up ink from the various inkpads I've used. I've used Stazon black ink to stamp the image so the ink doesn't run. I could have used Basic Black and then heat-set it, but you haven't seen the state of my craft desk and I really didn't have room to get my heat-gun out. (Yes, it really is that bad at the moment....).

Right. I'm off to cuddle Rosie again. I've been giving her lots of love this morning to compensate for the fact that she got stuck outside last night because we forgot to open the cat flap after giving her her tablet. She has a very black nose, from headbutting the flap all night trying to get in, and is distinctly MIFFED with us today. I promised her I'd show you a photo of her, so here she is snuggling up with me last night after I got back from Regional Training. Sorry the pic is a bit blurry - Alan took it on my phone in less than ideal lighting. I've cropped as much of me as possible out of the photo because, believe me, you do NOT want to see what I looked like last night!!

Back tomorrow, when I can finally show you the brand new Summer Mini. See you then!

Hugs,

Becki

More Spice Cake Suite.....

Hello!

I found these photos today, realised they hadn't yet hit my blog and wanted to show them to you before it's too late. The pictures shows a selection of lovely three-dimensional projects using the Spice Cake Suite from the soon-to-retire Spring Mini-Catalogue. They were part of an amazing display created for a training event a few months back by one of my fellow-Demonstrators, Jo Press. Aren't they stunning?!

Here are some more of Jo's projects:

Don't forget, the Simply Adorned range (you can see one of the charms in the bottom photo, along with the 61cm chain) will disappear with the Spring Mini-Catalogue, and we've just found out that the whole range is being retired in the States, so my guess is it won't return with our big new Catalogue in October. If you want to create your own jewellery using this fab series of products - or if you'll miss any of the lovely things in the Spring Mini as much as I will - then you need to put your order in NOW. Call or email me, telling me what you want, and I'll do the rest. It's really easy, and wherever you are in the UK I can arrange for delivery direct to your door for just £4.95.

As I'm typing this, I'm so excited about heading down to Reading tomorrow for Stampin' Up! Regional Training! These events are such good fun and I always come back buzzing with ideas. I'm travelling down with one of my downlines, Pat, and I'm really looking forward to being able to spend some time with her. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: absolutely the BEST thing about Stampin' Up! is the people you meet. Pat is a lovely lady, and I feel privileged to have her as part of Team Sunshine.

Those of you who keep tabs on my Facebook page will already be aware that there are big changes coming to the Stampin' Up! Starter Kit on 1st May. If you're thinking of signing up, you need to get in touch with me sooner rather than later, so I can help you decide if you need to be signing before the end of April, or whether you should wait until the start of May. Pop back tomorrow (Sunday) and I'll have some more details for you.

Right. I'm off to bed.... (It's eleven o'clock on Friday when I'm typing this). Thanks for dropping by, and I'll be back soon.

Hugs,

Becki

Summer Mini-Catalogue Projects

Hello!

Here's another project featuring products that will be coming soon, in the Summer Mini-Catalogue launching on 1st May. It's my variation on a project we made at a recent team training day, and it's a little gift pouch. If you untie the ribbon, you can pop a small gift or treat inside (a chocolate bar, perhaps - chocolate's always good...) and secure it in place with a Mini Glue Dot.

Here's another photo, showing a the gift pouch standing next to a beautiful little Place Card. Big thanks to fellow Demonstrator Val Moody, whose idea this was - I love it and can see our table being adorned with these a LOT in the future!

You may have gathered by now that I love this stamp set. It's called "Apothecary Art" and it was designed especially to co-ordinate with the new Framelits dies that we'll be getting. Don't these projects look pretty in these Spring-like colours? Oh yes! And if you look closely,  you can see some lovely embossed hearts. These were done using one from a new set of border embossing folders from the Summer Mini. Pretty!!!

Not long now until you can get your hands on these gorgeous new goodies. But, until then, you still have a few (a very few!) days left to order anything you still want from the Spring Mini-Catalogue. And don't forget that if you order £45 or more worth of stuff, you can choose a FREE pack of Designer Series Paper (worth £9.95) from the selection shown here. Get in touch with me if you want to place an order - my contact details are in the sidebar.

Thanks for looking. I'll be back soon with some more for you to look at.

Hugs,

May "Cards ...and More!" Sneak Peek

Hello!

Here's a little sneaky peek at one of the projects we're going to be making at May's "Cards ...and More!" classes. You can book by clicking on the PayPal links in the sidebar.

Because I'm late putting this up (well, it was typed, but somehow I managed to overlook actually POSTING it - doh!) I've extended the booking a little. I've also got a date for the Ipswich class at last, so here is all the information you need in order to make sure you don't miss out:

Kesgrave Class (Cedarwood School)

This one will take place on Saturday 5th May. If you want to join us (and I'd love to see you!) here's what you need to do:
  • If you want one of the specially discounted Class Bundles, and you'd like to have it on the day of the class, then you'll need to book by 8:00pm tomorrow evening (Friday 27th) .
  • If you just want to come to the Class, or if you want a Class Bundle but aren't worried about getting it on the day, then you can book up until Friday 4th May - but be warned that there may be no places available if you leave it too late.
Ipswich Class (Pennikkity Pots)

Sorry it's taken so long to confirm this, but the ladies at Pennikkity Pots have been incredibly busy!): it'll take place on Thursday 17th May at 10:30am, at Pennikkity Pots as usual.
  • If you want one of the specially discounted Class Bundles, and you'd like to have it on the day of the class, then you'll need to book by 10:00pm on Wednesday 9th May.
  • If you just want to come to the Class, or if you want a Class Bundle but aren't worried about getting it on the day, then you can book up until the day before the class - but, as before, do be aware that there may be no places available if you leave it too late.
You can click here to be taken to full details of the class.

Spice Cake Revisited

Hello! Still on the “Spice Cake” theme, I have a couple of things for you to look at today. First off, here’s a project that I made for display in one of the cafĂ©s in Ipswich:

I’ve photographed it out of the frame so you can see it more clearly, but this is off to hang on the wall in Pennikkity Pots Ceramics Cafe in the centre of Ipswich, advertising the “Cards …and More!” classes that I run there. As well as the papers, you can see I’ve used the co-ordinating “Spiced Paisley” stamp set, as well as the matching Big Buttons – all of which will be retiring next week! I loved putting this together, and made very good use of one of the amazing new tools that is coming in the Summer Mini-Catalogue. Can you guess just what it might be?

Secondly, I promised to show you another card I’d made using the fab Spice Cake papers, so here it is:

This is a variation on the card I posted the other day, but this time “girlified” a little bit, and with a fabulous “Big Shotted” flower instead of the Big Button. The wonderful ladies in my team have been keeping me busy with “Congratulations” cards recently, and this card was for one of them. I LOVE it!!

If, like me, you love this Spice Cake suite of products, don’t forget that you have less than a week left to stock up on them. I’m putting in a last order from the Spring Mini-Catalogue on Tuesday 30th April, but after that it’ll be too late – they won’t be available beyond the end of April. If you can’t bear the thought of crafting without them, call or email me to put your order in. Free delivery if you’re able to collect from me, or just £4.95 to have your order shipped direct to you, anywhere in the UK.

Back tomorrow with a sneak peek at May's "Cards ...and More!" projects. See you then!

Hugs,

Becki

Spice Cake Birthday Card

Hello! Did you know you only have a week left to order from Stampin’ Up!’s gorgeous Spring Mini-Catalogue? I find it hard to believe it’s going to be gone so soon, and I am going to miss SO many things from it. The lovely Spice Cake suite, for example… Here’s the card I made for my Dad’s birthday, using the Spice Cake papers, based on a project I found on Helen Read’s blog (thanks for the idea, Helen):

Zoom in on the picture and you'll be able to see that the patchwork has been made using the Postage Stamp punch, which (sob!) will also be going when the Spring Mini retires. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that this makes its way into the new, big Idea Book and Catalogue when it's relelased later in the year, 'cause I've used it LOADS.

I love this card and have made several along the same lines. You can vary the colours to suit either male or female recipients, and I’ll show you another (more girly) card next time. (That’s shorthand for, “I haven’t taken a photo of it yet”, if you hadn’t already guessed!). If you look closely, you’ll see something that isn’t in the current catalogues. The beautifully soft twine in the centre of the button is one of the new treats coming soon in the Summer Mini-Catalogue. This one’s the Pool Party colourway – love it!!

If there’s anything you haven’t yet got from the Spring Mini, then don’t leave it too late. You can call or email your order through to me any time, and I’ll be putting a final order in on the 30th April. Free shipping, just this once, if you’re local and can collect from me, or I can have your order delivered direct to your door anywhere in the country for just £4.95. Go on… you’ll kick yourself if you miss out, you know you will!

Back soon. Thanks for dropping in!

A Card from the Summer Mini-Catalogue!

Hello!

As you know, I've been playing with my pre-order from the forthcoming Summer Mini-Catalogue, and I've at last got round to taking a picture for you... Here's a congratulations card I made the other day, using some of my new goodies:

Isn't that image beautiful!? It's one of several from one of the new stamp sets that will be coming soon, and I've loved colouring in these beautiful flowers using Watercolour Wonder crayons and Blender Pens. So satisfying. (If you fancy having a play with the Watercolour Wonders, why not book yourself onto my May "Cards ...and More! class, when I'll be showing you all sorts of ways to use these amazing little crayons).

And no, I haven't been busy with my scissors, the lovely shaped layers you can see have been cut with the Big Shot, using a couple of the new dies that Stampin' Up! are bringing us. This is really only the tip of the iceberg, you just won't believe all the gorgeous things that are in this new little book!

The sentiment is from a stamp set that I earned free during Sale-A-Bration (another of the perks of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator: free stamps!), "Delightful Dozen". I've been needing more sentiments and this set is just fantastic. Expect to see it making frequent appearances!

Thanks for looking. I'll be back soon to show you some more preview of pretty things from the forthcoming mini.

Hugs,

April "Cards ...and More!" Projects

Hello!

Well! After a couple of potentially rather costly days (I won't bore you with the details, but suffice it to say that cars and houses are not my favourite topics at the moment!) I'm back and able to bring you the photos I promised of this month's "Cards ...and More!" class projects. I hope you like them! Here are the cards, first of all:

And here they are, together with the gift box we made for them:

Here's the box closer up - it's made from a single sheet of A4 and so simple to make, but really sturdy nevertheless.

And finally, here are all the cards again, one at a time so you can see them more clearly.

All the projects were made using the "Perfect Postage" stamp set, and each card used a different stamping technique: stamping-off, colouring direct-to-stamp, marker-tapping and paper-piecing . I love that stamping is so versatile, you could never get bored with it!

I've been doing some playing with my new toys from the Summer Mini-Catalogue pre-order and have some gorgeous things to show you. Pop back soon to have a look and, in the meantime, don't forget that if you'd like to spend some time making beautiful projects like the ones shown here, you can book onto my next "Cards ...and More!" class by clicking on the PayPal link in the sidebar. Click here for more information about the class.

May "Cards ...and More!" Class Details

Hello!

You can now book your place on my May "Cards ...and More!" classes - just click on the links in the sidebar. At the time of typing this I have yet to confirm the date of the Pennikkity Pots class, but hope to be doing that shortly, so keep your eyes on here or my Facebook page if that's the one you're interested in.

Here's the stamp set we'll be using:

This is the super-versatile "Under The Big Top" stamp set - don't you love it?! You'll also be getting to grips with some fab colouring techniques with Stampin' Up!'s brilliant Watercolour Wonder Crayons, to make a great selection of projects including cards.... and more!

InkPad Picture
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Watercolour Wonder Crayons, they look almost like children's wax crayons but are so, so much more than that! Think of them as concentrated colour pigment; you can use them dry to colour in images directly, wet to give a stronger colour, or apply or blend them with Blender Pens or Aqua-Painters to give incredible watercolouring effects. Colouring is so much fun, and so relaxing, and I promise that once you try it with these amazing crayons you won't want to stop!

As with my April classes, the class itself will cost just £10. If you want to get even more for your money, then order one of the Class Bundles when you book your place. I've put together two specially selected packs of products at a discounted price, and with no shipping to pay, saving you a total of up to £11.15! Full details of the Class Bundles can be found by clicking here.

As an extra-special treat from me, if you choose to order Bundle B (click here for details), you can choose a FREE pack of Designer Series Paper from a selected range for just £40! This enables you to take advantage of Stampin' Up!'s current special offer at a unique discounted price - usually only available for an order of £45 or more. Click here to see the papers you can choose from.

Booking for "Cards... and More" classes closes 10:00pm Thursday 26th April*.

* Late Booking may be available, subject to space availability, but if you order a Class Bundle after the Book By date, I can't guarantee it will be with you in time for the class itself.

(By the way, for those of you who have been looking out for photos of the projects we did in April's classes, I will be putting pictures up as soon as possible. Some of you know that I've spent most of the last week in bed, fighting off that wretched bug that I thought I'd got rid of a week or so ago. I'm hoping that it's gone for good now, and I'll be able to get back to some kind of normality!)

Back soon!

Fynn Valley Apologies

Hi folks! I just wanted to let anyone know, who's expecting to see me at Fynn Valley Craft & Gift Fayre tomorrow (Easter Monday), that I'm not going to make it. I'm really gutted, but it's been a very hectic few weeks and the M.E.'s really making its presence felt.  I'm shattered, my glands are up and I've had to take the difficult decision to cancel and rest up instead. Hopefully a couple of quiet days and I'll be up and functioning again by mid-week.
I'm really disappointed, and sorry to let everyone down. Do go along to Fynn Valley anyway, it's always an amazing event, and there'll be loads of gorgeous things to look at and tempt yourself with.

Back soon. Hugs,

Becki

Craft Day Project - Cards Galore!

Hello! One of the things Emma and I wanted to do with our recent Craft Day was to show people just how much you can make out of a given selection of materials. Everyone who attended the day was given an amazing Project Pack: half a pack of Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper, a large Simply Adorned Charm, a 61cm Simply Adorned Chain, two fabulous Trinket Keys, an entire roll of Victoria Crochet Trim Ribbon, half a pack of Basic Pearls, a couple of Sponge Daubers and a stack of co-ordinating cardstock, as well as the "Elementary Elegance" stamp set. You've already seen the Jewellery Inserts, the Jewellery Storage Folder and the Mini Scrapbook, so here's our last project: a whole range of cards.

We supplied instructions for the samples we'd made, and encouraged everyone to explore their own creativity and some up with their own designs from the products they had left. Here are just a few of the cards we made:

 Simple but stunning!

This paper is Soft Suede on Pink Pirouette, but somehow looks almost golden - really opulent.

The inside of the card..

LOVE this chicken paper!!!! There's matching fabric too, in the Beau Chateau fabric collection - gorgeous!

And you even get chicken wire!!!! When I first saw this paper I was a bit non-plussed, but after playing around with it for a while I loved all the possibilities...

This is one of my favourites. Top Note die, Square Lattice embossing folder and a couple of punches.

Really elegant, an understated embossed frame and teeny-tiny pearls.

Even after making all these, we still had loads of the Project Pack left over. I hope the ladies who joined us are having loads of fun making even more projects with the materials they took away with them - and of course, the fabulous stamp set they got will last them forever!

Next time, I'm hoping to show you some photos of the day itself, along with some of the little surprise gifts we gave to everyone who came along. We had such a fantastic time and I can't wait till the next Team Sunshine Craft Day - we'll let you know dates as soon as possible, but we're thinking some time towards the end of November or early December, for a Christmas-themed extravaganza. Watch this space, or sign up for my email newsletter to hear about it first (you can find the link in the sidebar).

Hope you like the projects! Thanks for visiting, and I'll be back soon.

Hugs,

Becki

Craft Day Project - Mini Scrapbook

Hello!

Here's another of the projects we did at Saturday's Craft Day. Not everyone is comfortable with scrapbooking to a 12" x 12" format (if you're not used to it, it can seem a bit daunting) so, for our Craft Day project, we decided to go with a smaller-sized canvas. This mini book can easily fit into a handbag or jacket pocket, and was great fun to make.

Here's how it folds out... and look how GORGEOUS that Designer Series Paper is! Lots of distressing going on - inky fingers all round!

A close-up of the front and back covers...

Pop back soon to see some more of the Craft Day projects. Thanks for visiting!

Craft Day Project - Jewellery Inserts and Storage Folder

Hello! Wow - what a productive day I've had! Cycled down to the hospital for an x-ray (nothing serious..), catching up with paperwork this afternoon and then an hour or so at the allotment when Alan got home from work. Feeling all virtuous, we decided to head off to the cinema, only to be foiled first by roadworks clogging the road into Ipswich and then by the fact that the car park we usually use for the cinema has suddenly decided for some reason that it's going to close at 10pm every evening! Not wishing to get ourselves locked in, we decided to admit defeat and head home, so here I am!

I've been promising you a proper look at the projects we made at the Craft Day at the weekend, so here is the first one. I couldn't let the gorgeous "Simply Adorned" range slip through my fingers without including it in a mega-project so, as part of their Project Pack, everyone got one of the large pendant Charms, and one of the long chains, to customise as they wished. Here is mine, with one of the inserts I made as an example:

I love this jewellery! You can change the inserts to reflect your mood, and to match your outfit - so versatile! Here are some more of our sample inserts:

Of course, you need somewhere to store all these inserts, so here is the Jewellery Folder I designed to keep them in:

Just like those expensive jewellery pouches you can buy, the protective covers fold in to keep the inserts in place so you can carry the folder without worrying that you're going to lose everything.

I loved designing this project, the ladies enjoyed making it and I hope you like it too. I'll post pictures of some of the other projects soon, so do pop back to have a look.

Thanks for dropping in! Back soon....

Hugs,

Becki
